"Seeing Red"

Artist Statement:

One of favorite models I've worked with over the years... She gives the best expressions.

It's a pretty easy piece to read visually. She's angry, but she's composed. She won't let it overwhelm her, but she's just over it. All of it. She's tired of all the messaging around us that we are "less than."

The awareness of how our culture treats women and the work it takes us to unlearn it all is staggering... She loves herself, but she knows that there are so many that struggle to do the same. She looks you in the eye and gives you permission to be mad for as long as you need to be in dealing with this fact... She reminds you that when you are ready, it's time to get to work.
