"Polaris No. 14 (Trio of Wrens)"
Updated: Jan 29
The “Trio of Wrens” is a simple portrait of three of South Carolina’s state birds. The imagery celebrates nature and the direction one finds in the quiet simplicity of its company. Time spent in the park among the birds and the trees provides endless reflection and often the most profound clarity.
The clean, white background provides a stark contrast for the black and white charcoal work in the bird drawings as well as the metal leaf and metallic oil paint of the tree branches.
The frame is a linear echo of the metallic tones found in the branches, while the warm, tan color of the mat creates an impactful space that references the tones found in nature.
