"Listen & See"

Artist Statement:

Within the series “Art History and the Moth”, the singular narrative is representation. Celebrating beautiful women of color as subjects in portraiture creates the opportunity to discuss many layers of representation in my work. The title of this piece, “Listen and See,” is a direct invite to stop and listen to the stories of the people around us. To identify the voices of those that need us to hear. To talk less and listen more. To pursue opportunities for change, however big or small, and to elevate the conversation whenever and however we can.
