"Weigh/Way"

Artist Statement :

The bark paper is a textured screen, full of color and bold design.

She is right next to this side of the screen in a moment of decision. The screen in this moment is a barrier to her, but she is learning what is on the other side. She is looking out and studying in thoughtful consideration.

She is weighing her options.

She sees the way.

Side note: The lavender watercolor wash in the background is a nod to "The Color Purple" for the themes that overlap and to pay tribute to the show playing in the theatre where this piece debuted.
