"Confinement (Spilosoma Lubricipeda)"

Artist Statement:

In “Confinement...” a halo surrounds the subject, representing a holy process of transformation and change. This is one of several pieces created in 2020 during the pandemic lockdown. Feelings of change were all around, both personally and throughout the world. On a larger scale, most of us felt the constant discomfort of a confined existence. The moths are all contained in the halo as a symbol of that recognized state. The theme challenges the dual nature of confinement, in both the limited opportunities for external experiences and the gift of time to address our internal needs.
